MEDUSA & PERSEUS
Blender, Illustrator
Nov. 2024
This series of posters were created using a 3D scanned artifact of Perseus and the Gorgon by Laurent Honoré Marqueste (1875 - 1890). The marble statue resides in the Musée Des Beaux-Arts De Lyon, France. I imported the scanned model into blender, textured, lighted, and finally rendered it. I then created posters using Illustrator. My goal after making several of these posters was to tell medusa's story.
This statue depicts the intense moment where Perseus sneaks into Medusa's cave and slays her. Though this statue was created in Perseus's victorious point of view, Medusa was misunderstood, as she had been cursed with snakes on her head and banished from Athena's island after Poseidon assaulted her. Medusa's snakes have been interpreted as a way of protection from any other man that may try to hurt her.
