Tasked with painting a landscape from memory, I used the terrain of Burnet Woods in Clifton as my palette. After hours of searching around the park for an interesting composition, my feet landed at the doors of one of the park buildings. The building was locked, but I managed to peer my eyes through the glass. There was a large recreational room set with tables and what looked to be areas for crafts. I held this image in my head until it was time to paint.
PROCESS
The canvas was hand-made using plywood. I first built the wood frame by cutting each piece, then gluing and using a nail gun to secure it.
For the painting process I began to quickly sketch where walls would go. Then I mixed my desired colors and started laying them down. I did multiple rounds of this in order to build up lights and darks.
